My Background

Hello. My name is Lou Allevato.  I am an architect by profession and studied at the Boston Architectural College. I have spent over thirty years designing and drawing buildings. I am an artist at heart and have been painting since I was ten years old. My passion is urban sketching, and I bring my sketchbook where ever I go. I hope you enjoy art as much as I do. Feel free to contact me.

Cheers!

My Background

I often sketch with an HB & 2B classic flat pencil and Pigma Micron black pens of assorted point sizes. Watercolors I use are Windsor Newton Professional Tube pigment and Gouache, Da Vinchi 498, Princeton 4050 brushes, Arche,s and Stonehedge Aqua cold press 140# 100% cotton paper. I have various pocket field boxes for on-location paint sketching. My style is sketchy and loose.

My Inspiration

Inspiration comes to me in many different forms. My surroundings, nature, travel, architecture, memories, and emotions move me to paint or sketch. I think, most of all, observations of what is around me at any given time influence my interpretation of light, color, and contrast of the world around me. Family and friends and the places we go together create inspiring memories.

Oki  (RIP)  was our family cat and the inspiration for naming this website.  He was a  character and loved by all.  Oki was from  Okinawa and somehow ended up at the Milford MA Humane Society's doorstep, a local cat shelter. Soon after, he picked us as his forever family.  Oki loved to talk and talk and talk. He loved telling stories to anyone willing to listen. He was particularly fond of my son Alex. I’m sure in his new home over the rainbow, Oki is still chatting it up with the other cats and anyone wanting to hear a good story.
